1941 Watercolor Painting STILL LIFE FLOWERS Signed SAN FRANCISCO ARTIST Melnicoe

Description: Here we have an original 1941 watercolor painting pencil-titled "Ragged Mums" on the mat board in the lower left margin, and pencil-signed in the lower right margin of the mat board by listed female artist, Ruth C. Melnicoe (1897-1959 American.) Painting itself is also signed and dated by her within the lower left corner. Melnicoe was born in Chicago, Illinois, but most of her work is associated with the West Coast, especially the Bay Area, and in particular, with San Francisco and Berkeley. Unframed. Painting alone is roughly 6 7/8" x 5 3/4". Currently mounted to back of a mat board, showing light tanning and some soiling, measuring 17" x 14". Can easily be remounted but doing so loses the penciled-in title and signature. Mat board is definitely salvageable as-is, just not perfect. Light surface, edge, and corner wear to the surrounding mat board, which may include -- and if included, is shown in the photos -- matting tape remnants, mat burn, toning and/or foxing.
