Description: No first-time ebayers. Must already have multiple feedbacks to purchase. Selling one NOS 1941-42 M3A3 M3A4 and M3A5 Lee/Grant speedometer. Originally made for a 1941 M3A5 instrument panel, but it will work with other GM Chevrolet and Chrysler built armored vehicles and trucks made in 1941. Correct speedometer for the Lee and Grant tank models that were originally equipped with twin Detroit Diesel and Chrysler Multibank powerplants. A slightly different speedometer with a long flexible trip reset cable instead of a shot shaft was used on Detroit Diesel and Chrysler powered M4 Sherman tanks. NOS, never used or installed, complete and fully functional speedometer. With special waterproof mounting bracket and rubber seals that were used only on the M3A3 M3A4 M3A5 Lee/Grant and the M4A2 Sherman tank instrument panels. This speedometer was found in a small batch of military surplus gauges which also included a couple NOS M4A4 Sherman speedometers that had 80 MPH dials on them instead of a 60 MPH dial. A similar speedometer to this one, but with larger numbers on the dial and a long tripcounter reset cable instead of the short tripcounter reset shaft, was used on 1941-42 GMC CCKW and Dodge WC truck dashboards. This is a very rare and hard to find early WW2 lacquered brass bezel long pointer speedometer built for the M3A3 M3A4 and M3A5 Lee/Grant tank instrument panel starting in 1941 and lasting into early 1942. This speedometer will also work in a Jeep or a DUKW, because the housing diameter, calibration, and speedo cable stem dimensions are the same as that of a Jeep and DUKW speedometer. This speedometer fits a 3 and 3/8" diameter hole, and it is calibrated to a 1.0 ratio (1000 RPMs equals 60MPH indicated on the dial.) The cable stem has a 5/8"-18 thread pattern, and the input shaft has a .105" square hole in it for a .104" square cable end. The bezel has been carefully taken off then put back on again in order to clean some fogging off of the inner surface of the glass lens. The outside of the housing is dirty, but the speedometer mechanism and the inside of the housing are clean. The yellow plastic light diffusors in the side of the housing are still good and uncracked. The speedometer has been tested with a cutoff speedo cable end chucked in an electric drill, and confirmed to be in good working condition. The tripcounter reset shaft still turns freely, it is not locked up at all. This speedometer has some luminescent, probably radium based paint on the dial. It’s very oxidized, but may still set off radiation detectors at customs stations outside of the USA and cause it to be sent back.
