It goes over the history of cork in the Mediterranean area and the industrial uses of cork, such as gaskets, stoppers, flooring, insulation and other industrial applications. An appendix is titled "Cork in Time of War" and states "To most people cork is probably typical peace-time commodity. On the contrary, its importance in time of war uses ranging fro simple gaskets to ammunition plugs is so great that cork is now one of fifteen products classified by the Army and Navy Munitions Board as ""critical materials"" " There is an examination of an attempt to establish a California Cork farming industry, which I am guessing never took off. Naturally the book looks at cork and the wine and other liquid industry over time. 151 Pages on heavy glossy paper. A signed bookplate inside the front hard cover was inscribed to the Uniadilla High School. The condition is excellent, so my guess not too many students looked at this and there are no other library stamps or marks.
