Description: This is a vintage original advertising cover or envelope from the South Bend Lathe Works printed with a vignette of advertising for the World Premier in South Bend, Indiana of the 1940 biographical film on the life of legendary Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne. This movie starred Pat O’Brien and Ronald Reagan among others and featured Reagan’s famous line “Win One for the Gipper” which he later turned into a political campaign slogan. This envelope 9-1/2” x 4-1/8” and has a September 24, 1940 postmark from South Bend, Indiana.
