Havana, Cuba -- Frankly borrowed from present day Germany, is the New "Work Army" inaugurated by Col. Fulgencio Batista. The Youth Brigade shoulders picks and shovels as it marches in revue at Racio Boyero on the outskirts of Havana. The parade was among the ceremonies that marked the opening of the new school. Teachers also act as "Officers" in the brigade. Col Batista and Secretary of State Dr. Ramos witnessed the parade of this first "work army." Photo measures 11 x 7.25 inches.
