Description: 1937 Boy Scouts Cover on Letterhead 1st National Jamboree BSA in Washington D.C. cover addressed to Chunky, Mississippi. I have not seen any other handwritten covers and BSA letterhead from 1937 in my research. This is harder to find and more rare than some of the preprinted BSA letterhead. Used-stamped cancelled cover (7'x4") with (3) One cent franklins tan paper with some gum bleed and age tonning. Dark clear cover Cancelled June 30, 1937 Washington DC. There is also Airplanes save time cancel over the Franklin stamps. Reverse “Johnny A Lewis, Troop 25,Section K,Region 5 BSA Letterhead 2 page note 4 fold with some gum bleed dark age tonning near edges. Handwritten in pencil nice square corners and edges with no rips or tears. Tan paper Letterhead 10"x7". Letter is dated June 28th, 1937 Washington DC from a Johnny Lewis to Harry Lewis stating over 8000 in camp.. See photos for better Apparently, Roosevelt wanted a representative Boy Scout from all over the nation to attend in 1935, but it was insurmountably closed due to a polio outbreak. Thus, the 1937 BSA Washington DC Jamboree was the First full national event. The scouts tented slept around the Washington Monument. It will be packaged safely and secure for shipping.
