Description: Here is a 1934 photograph of the Ladies Aid Society parade float from Hazel Grove. It is a horse drawn float and it appears the women are 100% behind the local farmers. Ladies' aid societies or soldiers' aid societies were organizations of women formed during the American Civil War that were dedicated to providing supplies to soldiers on the battlefield and caring for sick and wounded soldiers. Long after the war these societies still existed making blankets, quilts and performing other services for the needy. Photo by Devito, but where Hazel Grove is, I do not know. The image was purchased in the northwest US, so it might be Oregon. Clean sharp image and mat. Interesting image! Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
