Description: My father was a mechanical engineer (Swarthmore '36) and went on to design the aluminum ice cube tray and lots of GE refrigeration cabinetry. I grew up in an engineering environment, and among his effects was this gorgeous Lefax collection... fascinating from the perspective of the tools we take for granted now. I won't attempt a complete catalog of the 3-inch stack, but the photos will give you an idea. Mathematics, power engineering, electronics, motor design, steam tables and Mollier diagram, metal properties, reference tables, and more. There are also some personal organizing tools like auto and expense records, blank pages, a detailed 46-page index of 1934 Lefax engineering and business data sheets, and a booklet of their more general products. A 1943 calendar has his name, but otherwise there are no annotations. The box appears to be the Lefax 825 filing box ($1.00 in 1934). This is a time capsule of life long before Google, PDF data sheets, and apps... from 90 years ago. The batch weighs almost 2.5 pounds.
