Clark, Limited. Jeffery Farnol was an English author, born in 1878 in Aston, Birmingham. He is most well-known for his romantic novels. He gained significant success with his first novel, "The Broad Highway," published in 1910. The book became a bestseller and established Farnol as a prominent writer of romantic adventure novels. Farnol's writing style was often described as lyrical and evocative, with a focus on creating a vivid sense of time and place. His novels appealed to a wide audience and were particularly popular during the early 20th century. “Voices From The Dust” is a collection of intriguing short stories of London and romance including: The London Stone, The Sanctuary - Westminster Abbey, The River Thames, London Bridge, The White Tower, St. Bartholemew’s, Smithfield, Tothill (Tuttle) Fields, Whitefriars, The Banqueting Hall at Whitehall, Plague, Hyde Park, The Pilgrims. “Voices From The Dust” was first published in 1932. However, this edition is of particular importance as it is the 1933 FIRST PRINTED in Macmillan’s Pocket Edition. The pocket editions were created so that your favourite book was small enough to travel with you. The dark blue limp leather-bound boards and spine are intact and robust. They are in a good condition for a book which is 90 years old. There are just light or small marks, some light scratches, soft bumping to the corners and a little wear to the leather, especially to the edges and corners. There is also soft bumping to the corners. Please see the photographs which I have provided for further reference. On the front board there is beautiful gold gilt lettering for “Jeffery Farnol”. There are also highly ornate gilt decorations and lettering the spine. Interestingly, the spine states the publisher’s name “Sampson Low” instead of Macmillan. The inside of this book is in a very good condition for its age. The pages are lightly tanned and are in an overall neat and clean state, with only the very occasional small mark and the occasional light crease or small fold. There are no rips to the pages, no pen or pencil written inside this book and the pages are tightly bound. There are no loose or missing pages. All 369 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description. This measures approximately 17.3 cm by 11.2 cm and 1.8 cm wide. It weighs approximately 240 grams. Thank you so much for looking.
