1931 USS Childs handstamp on legal penalty cover [s.5104]

Description: 1931 US navy penalty cover with handstamp postmark of USS childs. Corner card is from the vessel. Childs, DD-241, was a Clemson-clasd destroyer in service from 1920-1945, in the later years after conversion to a seaplane tender. The ship was in the Philippines at the start of world War II and managed a lengthy withdrawal to Australia, where it continued service. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
