Cross, narrating for a performance of the Metropolitan Opera in New York during December of 1931. Live performances from the "Met" were broadcast each Saturday over the NBC Radio Network from 1931 to 1941, sponsored by the American Tobacco Co. In the background is an engineer keeping in touch with NBC headquarters in Radio City. Each week all the necessary equipment was transported to the anteroom of Box 44 in the grand tier of the Opera House where the broadcasts originated.Photo measures 8 x 10inches.
