Description: FEATURED: A super page of Hand-Colored fashion illustration from the 1930's Paris, France fashion world, showing an elegant model, dressed beautifully from hat to heels, complete with gloves, purse and a show-stopper hat, wearing a gorgeous daytime suit that stylish, sleek women loved to wear out for luncheons, shopping, meetings and cocktails in Paris, France. Our model, with her fashionable slender body, is showing off a uniquely tailored ensemble, designed to feature her tiny waist, long legs and arms, and that envious, desirable style that the French have always been famous for. We loved, loved, loved her hat, with its huge sheer bow under her chin, her accessories, the fabric, the perfectly draped cut of the design, and her face- what a face!! The suit alone is a classic, designed to be worn forever and always in style, and a black & white smaller sketch shows us what it looks like from the rear, where we also see that exaggerated shoulder and nipped-in waist that this fashion era was known for. This ensemble, at once refined, perfect and serene, also has a touch of sensuality about it, as it shows off a woman's curves and figure to perfection, and the longer length of the skirt adds to the overall wow factor. This is a woman every one will want to be with, and to see what else she has in her most fashionable closets! French text comments on this outfit, numbered 325, and 'Croquis Elegants' is featured in the lower right corner. We believe that this was part of a fashion illustration book/catalogue, as we found several collections from the 1930's produced by Editions Bell in Paris, France, all titled 'Croquis Elegants', which means elegant sketches, which these certainly were. We also discovered a Paris fashion magazine which started in 1931 by the same name, 'Croquis Elegants'. We do not know which fashion house these were done for, nor do we know the artist, but we do know that all the details were included and this page is just a terrific example of this legendary fashion period, and that Paris look we are all chasing eternally. A wonderful piece of fashion/textile art to frame up and enjoy for many years to come, and something that perhaps can inspire you to go back to the days of Serious Elegant Fashion and create your own stunning ensembles! Can you imagine walking into a room dressed like this- heads would spin and you'd be the talk of the fashion town! MEASURES: 6 3/8 inches X 12 5/8 inches, printed on pale cream-colored paper, hand-colored, illustrator not known, from a Croquis Elegants fashion book, we believe, with two side hole punches done for original book. Sketch is number 325, and descriptions are in French script. Created in Paris, France in the 1930's by a company called 'Croquis Elegants', who produced a fashion magazine and books of French fashion illustrations during the 1930's. We do not know the fashion houses these illustrations are from, nor the designer. Item had been matted/framed in the past, purchased as found, though, with slight mat tan lines around border edges, and remnants of two pieces of tape on reverse at top where items had been previously hinged for mat. Tape/glue has not bled into front at all, and hand-coloring is good, does not appear faded. Wonderful item to frame up and place where this beauty can be seen daily and appreciated for her Parisian elegance and charms, and perhaps inspire you to follow in her path and see what happens. You've always wanted to be a fashion trend-setter, haven't you? If not now, when? We pack your valuables with care for safety and security.
