Description: Selling an exceptionally rare Longines 13.33z with Pulsations dial from c. 1930. The pictures speak for themselves, but here's what you need to know: * Dial is beautiful, and extremely rare. This is one of only a handful of 13.33z Pulsations dials known, and the only one I've found with a 24h inner track. It is 100% original, having held up beautifully over the last 90+ years with only a few near-invisible hairline cracks to show for its age. * The original 18k YG case w. articulated lugs is in superb condition, except for a dent on the caseback. I have not attempted to remove it, but am almost certain it could be pressed out without much trouble (best left to an expert for a watch of this rarity/condition). The rear hinge is tight and the closure firm. The case is has a fairly massive feel for its style at 35mm dia. w/out crown, which is further accentuated by the large (for this watch style) 16mm "lug width". It is worth noting that I've only ever seen one other example of this exact case, on page 28/29 of John Goldberger's "Longines Watches" from 2006. I will not share the image here for copyright reasons, but fascinatingly, that watch is just 1 (ONE) serial number apart from my example (3992138, vs. 4992137), and shares a pulsations dial (albeit with the more common 60s inner dial track.). Both share the P&D stamp, indicating shipment to Perusset and Didisheim, Argentinian retailer of the era. One has to wonder if they were destined for the same customer. * Service history is totally unknown. The watch winds, and runs, and seems to keep decent time, but would almost certainly benefit from a trip to a (qualified!) watchmaker. The monopusher crown has a tendency to bind when depressed, requiring some manipulation to release the integrated pusher, but once it is released the chronograph function performs as intended. Again, something a qualified watchmaker should be able to handle, but I've priced the watch to reflect this added maintenance need. As for the movement, I've done my best to capture its truly incredible finish and complexity. I would argue (and have, often), that the 13.33z is amongst the finest movements ever made, considering its historical importance (first wristwatch chronograph movement), exceptional technology (instantaneous jumping minute counter), and unmistakably exquisite hand-finish. Anyhow, thank you for looking and happy to answer any questions you may have.
