Signed by George Moore to the edition page. 'Aphrodite in Aulis' was George Moore's last novel. The novel revolves around an ancient Greek family who moves to Aulis, where statues of Aphrodite come to life. Written by George Moore. Moore was an Irish novelist who was best known for being a naturalist writer. He was one of the first English-language writers to incorporate the French realist inspirations into his work, especially Emile Zola. CONDITION In the publisher's original full vellum binding. Externally, with some discolouration to the boards and spine, as is usual with this type of binding. Very minor marking to the boards. Bookplate to the front pastedown, belonging to a K. W. C. Down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
