Description: ULTRA RARE SIGNED EARLY PRINTING OF ONE OF THE MORE FAMOUS AND CHARMING NON-WESTERN STORIES BY ZANE GREY, AND SIGNED BY ZANE GREY!!! The autograph has not been authenticated but is very consistent with all others found online, including a signed copy of this very book which sold on auction for $1000. The last listing photo was taken from that auction site. Clearly the autographs are consistent, not identical, and signed at the same location on the first free endpaper. Found in an estate in the Washington DC metro area in a house with probably a thousand antique books, I have no reason to believe it is not authentic. The book's code is K-C, which indicates a printing in October of 1928. I'm not sure of the month of the first printing, but did find online with a printing code of G-C, which indicates a printing in July of 1928. Lacking dust jacket, but the book is in VERY GOOD CONDITION, with the only important wear issue being two red marks on the front board on top. It may be possible to remove those with a strong cleaner, but I would be concerned about affecting the color of the boards. The boards have light edge and corner wear, corners lightly bumped, clean unrubbed titling front board and spine, very solidly bound with no further marks in 69 pages. There are a few light foxing marks on the frontispiece and title page, none otherwise. A brief synopsis from the internet: "Based on some of Zane Grey's own real-life adventures exploring the rugged West with professional guides, including the Grand Canyon area, he here tells the story of hunters with their hounds that go to the rim of the Grand Canyon in hopes of capturing mountain lions alive."
