Description: Travel back in time with this old violin. It's marked as built by H. Bentin in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1927. According to Amati, Bentin (1857-1928) was born in Poland and emigrated with his violin-making father to the USA. He first had a workshop to Iowa, then Missouri, then New Orleans by 1896, where he worked with his sons. With a 14'' body and a 23-1/2'' scale length, it is a 4/4, full-size violin. A second inside label identifies it as repaired by Everett Gandee in Alliance, Ohio in 2002. Spruce top. Two-pieced flame maple back. Flame maple sides. Maple neck and scroll. One fine tuner. Cosmetically, it looks great. It is very, very clean. There are hardly any scuffs, scrapes, or scratches on it. There are three fine grain cracks on the lower bout. They either don't go all the way through or have been repaired. There is a small chip on the top upper bass bout side. Functionally, it works. The peg and peg holes are in decent round. It comes with a pitch pipe, rosin, and cleaning cloths. The bow is stamped JAPAN on the frog. It is fully-haired. It comes in a vintage case. The case handle, latches, and hinges all work. Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 32"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box.
