Description: RARE SIGNED COPY OF OLE EDVART ROLVAAG'S GIANTS OF THE EARTH, PUBLISHED IN 1927. This is a later printing in 1927, the 33rd Printing of December 1927. Overall it is in FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION, with a few issues to note. The boards have moderate to heavy corner and edge wear, the spine title paste-on is partially missing on top. THE GENERIC INSCRIPTION AND SIGNATURE ARE ON THE FIRST FREE ENDPAPER. The signature has not been authenticated, but is consistent with others easily found online, including one copy of this very book with the same generic Sincerely Yours inscription. The previous owner name is inked behind the front board. The previous owner also inked a word and some numbers around the Genesis quote opposite the title page. More importantly, the previous owner inked and red-lined (this red can be erased, the ink cannot) on several pages throughout the book - one example shown in the listing photo. I didn't count the number of pages with markings, but it is sparse, I'll guess on about 30-40 pages of the 465 pages. Finally, there is cracking to the spine between the title page and the adjoining page on the left with the Genesis quote. The overall text block starting at the title page to the end of the book is very solid. Pages with no markings, the large majority of the book's pages, are clean and solidly bound. The crack in the binding can be repaired and the red markings, in red pencil, could be erased - both repairs would enhance the life and appearance of this important book.
