Renowned for his numerous book illustrations and extensive cycle of miniatures, primarily in the chamber still life genre, Mitrokhin also distinguished himself as an art critic and was affiliated with several esteemed art associations. He served as a Professor at the Higher Institute of Photography and Photographic Techniques from 1919 to 1926 and later as a Professor at the Printing Department of the Higher Artistic and Technical Institute in Leningrad, teaching a course in book graphics from 1924 to 1930. In recognition of his contributions, Mitrokhin was honored as a Merited Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in 1969.
