Written by Laurence Frederic Rushbrook Williams, a British historian and civil servant who spent much of his working life in India. India in 1926-27, 1928. Illustrated with a folding frontispiece, nineteen photographs, and twenty-seven maps and diagrams, eight of which are folding. Written by John Coatman, a British director of public information for the Indian Police Service and British Government in India. India in 1927-28, 1928. CONDITION Volumes one, two, and five are bound in the original quarter cloth binding, with three and four are bound in the original full paper covered boards. Externally, smart with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Minor chipping to the board edges of volumes four and five. Fading to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. Light tide marks to the boards of volume one. Library stickers to the tail of the spine to volumes four and five. Front hinge starting but firm to volume three. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot or handling mark. Minor age toning to the endpapers. Library bookplates to the pastedowns of volumes four and five with library ink stamps to the reverse of some folding plates.
