An Old Gate is the third impression of this work. Two works of local histories, with 'England's Outpost' being "in effect a sequel" of An Old Gate, as the author states in the preface. The two together cover the whole Clique Port littoral.Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the first free endpapers of both volumes, dated 1952 to 'An Old Gate'. CONDITION In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. There are some light marks to the spines. The hinges are slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the first free endpapers of both volumes. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot and prior owner's ink underlining various points in the introduction of England's Outpost.
