Description: Established by the State of Pennsylvania in an era before State Police, this force worked on the corporate dime with the Pinkerton Agency and National Guard primarily to break labor strikes. Shown here is the 1928 banquet, photographed by the best photographer in Gilded Era Pittsburgh - Trinity Court Studios. In 1929, after the bloody beating of miner John Barcoski was brought to public light by State Legislator Michael Mussmano (whose writings became the basis for the 1935 film Black Fury), Governor Pinchot ended private police force permits. Very nice condition, 9.25 x 14”. Consistent toning w/ minimal foxing at edges.
