Description: Produced by the Peo Manufacturing Co., this Vest Pocket Basket Ball game dates from c.1929-1930. Designed for countertop display, this wood and metal machine is 16” tall with a 9" x 7" footprint. The top, base, and front panel are wood, and the sides and back are made of metal. The interior game panel is outfitted with an extremely challenging scoring bucket, a large V-shaped “Foul Basket” trap, and a scoring meter inset, along with directions. Though the directions indicate seven balls for a penny, only one ball comes out when a penny is inserted. The shooting lever functions well, while the coin slot lever tends to stick, requiring a good wiggle to get the game started again. Located below the shooting lever is a keyhole, however the key is not included. Three of four rubber feet are present, and the top is outfitted with a metal sign proclaiming the name of the game. Closing in on the century mark, this antique penny arcade machine still makes a very handsome presentation with moderate age-appropriate wear and fantastic graphics.
