Harold Fraser (9 November 1889 – 19 January 1962), known professionally as Snub Pollard, was an Australian-born vaudevillian who became a silent film comedian in Hollywood, popular in the 1920s. The long-faced Pollard sported a Kaiser Wilhelm mustache turned upside-down; this became his trademark. Rolin Comedies, produced by Hal Roach, were a series of silent short films during the early 20th century. 2. A Woman of Pleasure is a lost 1919 American silent drama film directed by Wallace Worsley and starring Blanche Sweet. It was distributed by Pathé Exchange in the United States. 3. Harold Clayton Lloyd, Sr. (April 20, 1893 – March 8, 1971) was an American actor, comedian, and stunt performer who appeared in many silent comedy films. One of the most influential film comedians of the silent era, Lloyd made nearly 200 comedy films, both silent and talkies, from 1914 to 1947. His bespectacled "glasses character" was a resourceful, ambitious go-getter who matched the zeitgeist of the 1920s-era United States. His films frequently contained "thrill sequences" of extended chase scenes and daredevil physical feats. Lloyd hanging from the hands of a clock high above the street (dangerous, but risk exaggerated by camera angles) in Safety Last! (1923) is considered one of the more enduring images in cinema. Lloyd performed lesser stunts himself despite having injured himself in August 1919 while doing publicity pictures for the Roach studio. An accident with a bomb mistaken as a prop resulted in the loss of the thumb and index finger of his right hand (the injury was disguised on future films with the use of a special prosthetic glove, and was almost undetectable on the screen).4. The Virtuous Model is a 1919 American silent drama film directed by Albert Capellani and starring Dolores Cassinelli, Helen Lowell, and May Hopkins. The film's sets were designed by the French art director Henri Ménessier. 5. The Gay Old Dog is a silent film from 1919. Directed by Hobart Henley, it’s based on a story by Edna Ferber titled “The Gay Old Dog”, which was originally published in Metropolitan Magazine in October 19171.Plot Summary: Hardworking Jimmy Dodd is the primary support for his widowed mother and three unmarried, bickering sisters. On his mother’s deathbed, he makes a promise: he won’t marry until his sisters find husbands. However, when Jimmy and his fiancée, Emily Harrison, fail to find suitable matches for the sisters, Emily decides to marry someone else.Film Details:Release Date: November 2, 1919.Production Company: Hobart Henley Productions, Inc.Distribution Company: Pathé Exchange, Inc.; A Pathé Special.
