Description: FYI - "zipsdm" are watermarks to protect the photo from piracy and not part of the actual photograph Nice large 9" x 7" photo adhered to a 14" x 12" cardboard frame. Features men building a frame barn (or better known as post and beam construction) in 1919. Has the builder's name on the lower right corner as C. K. Schantz. This is builder and architect Christian K. Schantz who owned a carpentry shop in Wayland, Iowa. His shop now appears on the National Register of Historic Places. So likely this barn was located somewhere near Wayland in Southeastern Iowa. Fun photo with the faces and other details quite clear under magnification. Like, one of the workers on the roof has a carpentry apron that reads Spahn and Rose Lumber Co. which is an Iowan lumber company that still operates today. Plus, you can clearly see a group of kids and a toddler on the roof too. The condition of the photograph is great with only minor wear. The cardboard frame is good too but shows more noticeable wear and some stains. The photo is adhered to the cardboard frame. Great photo that captures early 20th century Midwestern farm and barn construction history.
