Robert Wallace and 4 sons and 2 sons-in-law founded a silver-plate company in 1871. 4 years later the company was renamed R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. and introduced three sterling silver patterns, followed by sterling silver holloware. Robert Wallace died in 1892 but the family continued the business, eventually becoming the largest manufacturer of flat tableware in the world. R. Wallace and Sons. Mfg. of Wallingford CT is still in operation although the name has been changed to Wallace Silversmiths. Shipping is free in the continental US.
