Description: John Muir was an American naturalist who promoted ecological thinking and is often called the “Father of the National Parks”. He wrote several books detailing his life and travels, inspiring the desire to protect and preserve the wild spaces in the American landscape. This book is in good condition with the bookplate of the Elizabeth Loring Lending Library of South Lincoln, Massachusetts with the notation “Gift of V.F. Richards on the black and white plate while on the facing page is the notation, “Nettie M. Fisher/from/Mildred G. Phillips/September 20, 1925”. Underneath in a different hand, “They went to California/1925.” There is a newspaper article pasted on the back board depicting “A Noble Earthquake” experienced by Muir in 1872.
