SCARCE, this important seismological study of the Andes has become very hard to find. About FERNAND DE MONTESSUS DE BALLORE, the author (from Wikipedia): ******Fernand Montessus Ballore (b. France, 1851, d. Chile, 1923) was one of the pioneers of seismology at the beginning of the 20th century. Ballore showed conclusively that earthquakes were geological / tectonic in nature, and not related to the weather, the phases of the moon, etc. Born and educated in France, Ballore was called in 1906 by the Government of Chile (one of the most seismic countries in the world) to examine earthquakes in the Andes and to establish a modern Chilean seismological service.****** About TOMÁS THAYER OJEDA (from Wikipedia): ******Tomás Thayer Ojeda (b. Caldera, Chile, 1877, d. Santiago de Chile, 1960), historian, genealogist, paleographer and Chilean librarian. He was the author of several historiographical investigations, especially focused on the period of the Conquest and the colonial bibliography of Chile. He participated in the group that founded the Chilean Society of History and Geography; served as director of the National Library, Archives and Museums of Chile; and was one of the founders of the Chilean Academy of History.******
