Description: The Company: Huyler's began in Ney York in 1874 as a candy and restaurant chain, growing for a time into the largest and most prestigious chocolate maker in the country. In fact, Milton S. Hershey was employed by Huyler's from about 1883 until 1885 when he began his Hershey's Chocolate empire. The Jar: Embossed on the body of the jar, Huyler's (in cursive), New York (beneath). There is an indistinguishable mark on the base. The jar is about 4 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches in diameter at the base. The glass is fairly thick and has a rough faceted look to it with some imperfections in manufacturing, such as bubbles and raised lines/creases in the glass. Condition: The glass is in very nice condition, no cracks or chips, some minor carbon deposits and rust stains, some light colorful iridescence as shown in a couple of the photos. NOTE: The line seen in the photos that runs through the Huyler's logo is a raised line caused by a flaw in the manufacturing process, it is not a crack. The Date: I found this jar in a cluster of 4 jars/bottles (including the tall green BIM beverage bottle in my listings) all dating between 1910 and 1920, it is feasible this jar could date into the early 1920s but not likely.
