Description: This is an envelope that was sent by G. A. Spaulding, who worked for the Goodyear Rubber Glove Company, with his store located at 174 Blandina St., Utica, New York. Unfortunately, this is ONLY the envelope; the letter itself is missing. The envelope is postmarked 1908. George A. Spaulding (1856-1923) was associated with the Goodyear Rubber Company for forty years. In 1882 he married Miss Adella Canaway. The envelope is addressed to the J. G. Myers Co., of Albany, New York. This was a department store that was owned by John G. Myers (1831-1901). The store is perhaps best known for a 1905 disaster wherein the building collapsed, burying scores of people in the rubble, and killing thirteen. The envelope is about 3.5" by 6.5".
