Description: The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGW), usually called the "Rio Grande", was a western railroad that served Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico from its origin in 1870. Its primary route was between Denver and Salt Lake City. The DRGW purchased the Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) in 1988, and the new railroad assumed the name of the SP.
