Description: Scarce Kingdom of Dalmatia reference, an area long contested between Croatia, Serbia, Austria & Hungary. The images here date to 1908 (a parliament election year) & were likely taken on a political visit. Italy invaded in 1918 & Wilson’s treaty allowed them to formally annex Zad375ar. Dalmatia was ruled by Yugoslavia from 1918-1992. (5) boarded images are captioned in English: Eliza & Bessie on piazza of Hotel at Nigus*, Two girls at the top of the pass on way to Cetinje, Our Host at Cetinje, Royal Palace Cetinje Montenegro & Street scene Nigus*. Possibly an adaptation or misunderstanding of Njeguši? Strong contrast images, nice condition mounts (4 x 6”) w/only edge wear & occasional corner stubs.
