Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Clear glass twenty eight ounce embossed crown top seltzer water bottle from G.B. Seely’s Son Inc. of New York, circa 1900s to 1910s. The text on one side reads G.B. Seely’s Son Inc., 313-331 West 15th St., New York, Contents 1 Pint 12 Fl. Ozs. The other side features an embossed image of a bartender pouring drinks with bottles and glasses littering the bar and bottles displayed in the back bar. A square with intertwined letters GBS appears at top left. Text above reads 28 Fluid Oz. and below Trade Mark Registered. Gilliam B. Seely (1834-1887) was a mineral water manufacturer in New York City. In 1880, he was residing with his family in Manhattan and gave that as his occupation. His son, Frank Seely (1863-1916), was working for him as a clerk. Frank is G.B. Seely’s Son Inc. and enjoyed considerable success in business. He enlarged their factory in 1908, extending it to 331 West 15th Street at that date. Gilliam’s older brother, Charles B. Seely, was in the same business in New York City as early as 1860. This is a great pictorial bottle in good or better dug condition. There is some scratching and minor dings but not chips or cracks. I cleaned off a good bit of rust, but there is still some in the crevices of the embossed design and text. A very nice early NYC mineral water bottle!
