Description: RARE AND BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED WITH ADVERTISING AND OTHERWISE, THIS IS A "SOUVENIR" BOOK FROM THE 12th ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRINTING PRESSMEN & ASSISTANTS' UNION OF NORTH AMERICA. It measures 12.5" by 9.3", and is in VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH ONE ISSUE TO NOTE - there is a moisture stain (or foxing?) at the page-tops of all the pages in the book, starting at the spine and extending about 4.5" into the page. See the listing photos for the presence of this annoyance. Otherwise, all pages are glossy, clean and solidly bound. The book is unpaginated and has easily over 100 pages, likely in the range of 150 pages. The first 1/3 or more of the pages are dedicated to advertising, WITH GREAT ILLUSTRATIONS mostly B&W but a few in color, with one WAY COOL ART NOUVEAU ad by a printing ink company and another with a color portrait of an American Indian. The convention part of the booklet is fairly standard with lots of group and individual portraits, sections on history and local union activities, rosters, and so on. On this union from an online site: "The International Printing Pressmen and Assistants’ Union of North America (IPPAU-NA), was organized in 1889, when disgruntled pressmen and press feeders left the International Typographical Union (ITU) and, with the combined membership of thirteen locals, formed a new pressmen’s union. At its peak, with a membership of more than 125,000, the IPPAU-NA became the largest printing trades union in the world.... ... The IPPAU-NA disappeared from the union registry in 1973, when the union merged with the International Stereotypers’, Electrotypers’, and Platemakers’ Union of North America (ISE&PU) to form the International Printing and Graphic Communications Union (IPGCU). In 1983 the IPGCU merged with the Graphic Arts International Union to become the Graphic Communications International Union (GCIU)." BB4
