18thC Nymphenburg Porcelain Commedia dell'Arte Figurine Figure Porzellan Figur

Description: For sale is an amazing figurine from the commedia dell'arte series made by Franz Anton Bustelli by Nymphenburg in about 1770. For me the figures from this series are the holy grail of porcelain. Bustelli did an amazing job designing them which one can see here. Perfectly modeled and hand painted! One almost never finds the 18th century versions but the modern ones (I happen to have the modern version for sale as well) are still super popular and you can find them easily. This one here is one of the rarer models - he is known as L'Abbe or Anselmo and is of a gentleman wearing a cloak while leaning on a cane. Almost always painted in shades of grey and black this one here is a little more colorful with pink knickerbockers and a yellow vest as well as an orange shirt with the black coat. The flat base is also nicer than most with a bit of puce and blue trim to it as well as the gilding. An amazing piece one will never find again. The figure is not marked which is not unusual - likely ground away because the base is not perfectly flat. There is an incised number two inside the base which is hard to see. One finds that one some of their pieces. The figure is 6.875 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 3 inches deep. He is In superb condition with some minor restorations that were so well done I cannot figure them all out. I am pretty sure the cane had work done to it, the hat, one leg and off course that finger that is sticking up. A couple of firing flaws that were painted over at the factory common to these early models. The base warped during firing and is not flat so a little rubber piece was placed under the base so he stands safely. He displays perfectly and looks amazing!
