Description: This is a fabulous little genuine 18th century engraving to add to your home, or larger dolls house. Dating from the 1790's this stipple and line engraving features a female sitter in profile view. The engraving is on paper and his housed behind glass in its original pressed brass frame. What a combination! The frame even has its original wood backing board with the trimmed titled section of the print reading ‘Duchess of York’.Princess Frederica Charlotte of Prussia (b 1767 – d 1820) was a Prussian princess by birth and a British princess by marriage. She was the eldest daughter of King Frederick William II of Prussia. She became the wife of Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, second son of King George III of the United Kingdom.This is a wonderful little engraving in a stunning frame. This is the only example we can find of this engraving. This is the perfect item for anyone who has a passion for the Royals, British history or antique portraits.Reference: Museum number: 1935,0413.37 in the British Museum’s online collection. Accession number: E.1121-1990 in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s online collection.Measuring: Frame width 3 ¼ inch (8 cm) by height 3 5/8 inch (9 cm). Aperture width 1 ½ inch (4 cm) by height 2 inch (5 cm).Condition: Light surface wear to brass frame commensurate with age. As mentioned, engraving historically trimmed to fit frame.
