Description: This original Antique Blue & White Spongeware Baroque Tile was made in Portugal in the period (1706–1750).Item Details & Specifics:The late 17th century and the early 18th century was considered to be the 'Golden Age of the Tile’, the so-called Cycle of the Masters. Mass production was started not just because of a greater internal demand, but also because of very large orders from Brazil. Large one-off orders were replaced by the less expensive use of repetitive tile patterns. Churches, monasteries, palaces and even houses were covered inside and outside with tiles, many with exuberant Baroque elements.Item condition: Some flaws, some chips and some imperfections along the tile. Age weathered surfaces. Condition is appropriate for age and use.
