Rauschenberger was the The 29th mayor of Milwaukee 1896-1897. He was born in Soldin, Prussia. A cordage and twine manufacturer, who came to Milwaukee in 1860. He moved to New Berlin, Waukesha County, WI, but returned to Milwaukee in 1864. Elected alderman in 1880, 1884, 1892 and 1894. President of the School Board in 1888. Elected mayor in 1896. He led a businesslike and progressive administration, and weathered the great 1896 streetcar strike. Died at the age of 62. This is a great addition for railway collectors as well as historical.
