Description: I have for sale a political token for the 1896 United States Presidential Campaign, also known as Bryan money. William Jennings Bryan was the democratic candidate and William McKinley was the republican candidate. Bryan advocated the free coinage of silver, and to be standard money with gold at the ratio of 16 to 1. McKinley endorsed a single standard of gold. McKinley won the election and became our 25th president. This token is aluminum, it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and in circulated condition. The obverse shows a poorly executed Liberty head in the center & the obverse text reads BULLION VALUE 1896. It has a crenelated border. The reverse shows an eagle in the center and the text reads SIXTEEN TO ONE- WE DONT THINK, and it also has a crenelated border.
