Description: Papers of the New Haven Colony Historical Society, Vol. V, pub. by the Society (1894). Hardcover, brown embossed pattern boards, gilt lettering on spine. 92 pages of prefatory material, then 309 numbered text pgs, b&w illus. Ex-libris. This is an original copy from 1894. Table of Contents is shown in picture 3. Other pictures show samples of the contents. In 1893 they dedicated a building for the society, and that year was also their 30th "birthday". This book includes the transcript of a speech given at the building dedication, with many historical notes about the Society up to that point. Condition is very good. The boards show slight wear at edges and corners, but the lettering on the spine remains bright, and the binding is tight. There is a remnant of a label near the bottom of the spine. You can see in the pictures that some of the pages of the first gathering show a bit of rippling, but as near as I can tell, that is due to the original binding of the thin-ish paper, rather than any environmental effects. But consider the pictures. The pages are clean with bright text and illustrations, but they are showing age toning, and there are penciled library catalog notations in a couple of places. The hinge material from the spine did not get entirely glued flat to the back board under that endpaper, so that looks a little strange (next to last pic), but everything works as it should. Please examine the pictures for more information about what's in this book, and the condition of this original copy. ► We are thinning contents of our smoke-free, pet-free home. Books will be listed, plus toys including CCG and trading cards, jigsaw puzzles, jewelry, household items and maybe some of my fishing and workshop stuff.
