This issue has articles by Heinrich Rubens, the German physicist known for his measurements of energy of black-body radiation leading to Marx Planck's discovery of radiation law. His article in this work is titled 'on the refraction of Rays of Great Wave-Lenth in Rock-salt, Sylvite and Fluorite'. There is also an article by William Pole on colour-blindness. Pole was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society for his work in this scientific capacity.
