Description: This is a beautiful amethyst glass antique cigar humidor jar with its original ground glass lid from the 1890s.....it has 8 plain sides with Greek Key design emb around neck........4 3/4"tall (6 1/2" with original glass lid)...5 1/2"across base.....original round glass lid is embossed PATENT APPLIED FOR on the underside. Lid is round with 8 sloping panels on top; it has ground base; There is a hollow knob handle with opening on underside of lid for holding a moist sponge to help keep cigars moist. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one small thin flake on side of rim; no other damage to jar itself. The lid has 3 or 4 small chips on the bottom outer edge. A nice clean jar with no haze....I believe the lid of this jar was granted a patent in 1903, so this "Patent Applied For" lid and cigar jar are guaranteed over 120 years old...
