ITEM DETAILS Title: Government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; A Souvenir: Historical, Descriptive, and Biographical Sketches by Various Authors, Illustrated with Views and PortraitsAuthor: Benjamin A. Ball Binding: Fine Leather BindingPublisher: Ticknor and Company, Boston Publication Date: 1885Edition: 1st EditionCondition: Good ITEM DESCRIPTION Today we are pleased to offer this well preserved volume on the Government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1885! A great find from a local Massachusetts estate! This antique volume is over 137 years old! One of only two hundred printed! This antique volume is in great condition for being nearly 140 years old! Publisher full leather binding shows just light soiling and rubbing to the boards and spine, as well as moderate wear to the joints (the front joint in particular) and some general wear around the extremities, including minor bumping to the corners. Otherwise in great shape! The gilt title lettering to the spine reads easily from the shelf despite some rubbing, and the gilt stamped illustration to the front board looks fantastic overall. The full gilt page edges shine brightly with just minimal rubbing. A very well preserved antique tome! Internally this volume is in fantastic condition as well. Despite the aforementioned wear to the joints, both boards are firmly attached to the binding and all page groupings are secure. Marbled endpapers make opening this volume a real treat! Volume includes a clipped inscription from the author that is paper clipped to the front free endpaper. No bookplates, signatures or library markings to note. Nicely preserved! The text block itself is also in great shape. Pages show minimal toning and are exceptionally bright throughout. Some minor foxing was observed in the margins, but for the most part this volume is incredibly clean. There are no rips, tears, writing or markings in the text to note. Beautifully preserved overall! Profusely illustrated with full page photographic plates, diagrams in the text, and full page photographic portraits. Make sure to see the additional photos in the description below. 287 pages. Measures approximately 14 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 3 inches thick. A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special! Price includes FAST, FREE shipping!
