Description: This listing is for an early bound printing of "The Night Before Christmas," dated 1883. One of the first storybook-style hardcover printings, the book is known for its beautiful woodcut illustrations and attractive binding, which came in several variations.It measures 6.5 x 7.5 inches. Hardcover construction is beveled boards with silver-leaf cover designs, card stock pages, and gilt page edges. This 140 year old book is in very good condition overall with modest wear to the covers. Hinges are neatly reinforced from the inside. Pages are clean and binding tight. There is an award inscription to Annie on a bank end page, dated July 14, 1895. Note that the card stock pages are prone to breaking loose, so this book and its different variations should not be opened too wide (I used facsimile photos of the illustrations to avoid damage).
