Description: Encased 1882 Morgan Silver dollar from Carson City mint. Commemorative paperweight souvenir. Includes original leaflet insert. Labelled "Our 75th Year. 1882 - 1957 Steffen's" This coin came from my grandfather (passed in 1964) to my mother (passed in 2024). I am now selling to cover expenses. My grandfather lived the majority of his life in Wichita, KS which is where the Steffen Co originated and was located. Steffen's apparently was a dairy, ice, and ice cream company started by Nicholas Steffen in 1882. The company was purchased by Hiland Dairy in 1991 which still operates currently. The name Steffen was "retired" by Hiland approximately 3 years after the acquisition. (In 1882, Nicholas Steffen established his dairy and ice cream business and became the first person to ship ice cream commercially.) The coin is in excellent shape, preserved by encasing. The reverse face is particularly stunning. It should be desirable both as a 1882-CC dollar and also as a local collectible. Thank-you for your interest! Will ship USPS ground advantage with addtional insurance above and beyond the $100 normally included.
