Included is detailed information including their calls, sounds, habits, etc.A newspaper bookmark was placed long ago at the rhinocerus page and has left a stain from the newpaper. The newpaper column highlights a lecture given by the owner of this book, Ella Vogel.This book is in very good condition for age. The cover shows some wear especially at edges and hinges including a significant bump at top-front. The cover design is in good condition. The inner cover hinges are intact. The binding is generally very good - the title page has a 2 inch tear from the binding top side. The pages are otherwise in excellent condition. The illustrations are wonderfully detailed and there are full page black/white plates, all in very good condition. The tissue protecting the frontispiece is intact.There is light page yellowing and little, almost no, foxing. The free end page is inscribed in pencil to Ella K. Vogel, Christmas 1880, from Papa. There is no internal handwriting.The book has 228 numbered pages and measures about 6 7/8 x 5 inches.
