Aparently quite scarce. One of the very few pieces listed in Robert Julian's comprehensive work MEDALS OF THE UNITED STATES MINT THE FIRST CENTURY 1792 - 1892 without pictures. The only example of this medal that I could find was from a Stack's-Bowers auction from November, 2020. That piece was also from 1876, obviously engraved by the same hand and awarded to the same person, G. W. Howard. The piece offered here is for best Organ, the Stack's-Bowers piece was for best Piano. 1 7/8" / 48 mm., struck in bronze. AU condition with very attractive color and surfaces, a bit darker "in hand" than the images. Quoted shipping cost is for US delivery only. Any non US bidders should contact me first.
