Description: I have a pair of these C.S. Osborne draw gauge leather working tools. Have sat on my bookcase for years and I have not tried to clean them as I like the patina. Pistol grip handle is very smooth and clean. Gauge markings well defined. Screws turn easily. Comes with blade. Believe this one is older than my other one, mainly because of the markings. (see pics. 5 & 6) Top reads: Pat. Aug 11, 1876 Reissued July 17, 1877. Top end of gauge reads: C. S. Osborne - Newark, N. J. in a circle. Center reads Est'd 1826. (Other one reads "Made in USA") This gauge also has "prongs" on either side of handle for more exact measuring? (see pics 10 & 11). I do not know the metal but I think cast iron. Please email with any questions or concerns. Not very knowledgeable about vintage tools (oops, see that blade is upside down in pics!) but I will try to answer. Thanks for looking!
