1868 US Grant opponent Democrat candidate Seymour president campaign token coin

Description: In 1868, if you were a white man, you would have worn this medal on your watch chain. Horatio Seymour unexpectedly won a large number of popular votes, even though he lost heavily in the Electoral College. White people were obviously worried that the newly enfranchised freedman would take leadership over parts of the country judging from the number of votes Seymour amassed while preaching the mantra of white supremacy. This is further supported from the completely lopsided 1872 election results featuring known abolition supporter Horace Greeley versus Ulysses Grant. This souvenir of the dark period of the Reconstruction era is a must have for a civil war collection or even an anti-slavery collection just as a WW 2 collector would collect something of Adolf Hitler. The coin has a few dark spots but has seen little circulation and is 100% original from the 1868 campaign. Shipped with USPS First Class Package. Satisfaction guaranteed with 14 day no questions return policy. Buyer pays return shipping. Authenticity guaranteed forever
