Undated document, dated 17 Nov. 1866, describing changes to the overland mail route to California "by a recent order of the Department." The "initial point" was changed from Atchison, Kansas to two "points of departure" - Junction City, Kansas, on the Union Pacific Railroad route eastern division, and Fort Kearney, Nebraska, on the Union Pacific Railroad route running from Omaha City, Nebraska. The document states that these two points "meet at Denver City, in Colorado Territory" and that mail bound for New York will arrive "in nineteen days from San Francisco - a day less than the shortest time ever made before the change was ordered."
