Description: An Arabic-English Lexicon. By Edward William Lane. London: Williams and Norgate, 1863 to 1893. Eight volume set. First editions in original bindings. All published of Lane's magnum opus, still widely considered the most scholarly dictionary of Classical Arabic. Many of the spines are chipped at top and bottom, with the top of Part V spine particularly torn. Many of the corners are bumped and worn. The rear cover of Part IV has some staining. There are some instances of chipping and splitting at joins. Pages have some yellowing, occasional foxing, creases, edge tears; the most notable blemish is a closed tear reaching into text (without loss, pictured). There are a handful of unopened/uncut pages. There is cracking in places, and a couple of loosening signatures, but the bindings are all serviceable. VG minus.
